About Soowon

Soowon Seo is a teacher, concert pianist and accompanist with a passion for sharing the joy of music with her audience.

Born in Seoul, Korea, Soowon started piano at the age of 5 and in light of her noticeable talent, studied Piano from a young age, attending Yewon Arts Middle School and later Seoul Arts High School, specialising in Piano performance on both occasions.

She cemented her career as a Pianist by graduating with BMus from Seoul’s Yonsei University, then attending Northwestern Univsersity in Chicago USA, where under the guidance of James Giles and Marcia Bosits, she graduated with MMus in Performance & Pedagogy.

Since graduation, her musical career has seen her perform solo, chamber and accompanying concerts in the USA and Korea all the while holding teaching positions in schools and private studios. In 2018, Soowon found herself arriving onto the shores Australia for a fresh new challenge.

In the space of a few years, Soowon has established her own successful Piano teaching studio in Sydney, put together multiple performances with her chamber group Twelve88, while performing in front of a sell out crowd at the Art Gallery of NSW for her Piano Solo Recital “April in Paris”.

Outside Piano, Soowon loves dogs, the outdoors and a good meal with friends and family.
